16:10 -17:10 Seed Festival at the Theological School of Halki, Monastery Agia Triada in Turkey. Speaker: Father Gedeon. The Halki seminary, formerly the Theological School of Halki (Greek: Θεολογική Σχολή Χάλκης and Turkish: Ortodoks Ruhban Okulu), was founded on the 1st October 1844 on the island of Halki (TurkishHeybeliada), the second-largest of the Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara. It was the main school of theology of the Eastern Orthodox Church‘s Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople until the Turkish parliament enacted a law banning private higher education institutions in 1971. The theological school is located at the top of the island’s Hill of Hope, on the site of the Byzantine-era Monastery of the Holy Trinity. The premises of the school continue to be maintained by the monastery and are used to host conferences. It is possible to visit the island by boat as it can be reached in approximately one hour from the coast at Istanbul.

09:00 – 10:00 How to ban GMOs worldwide. We link the 1st Olympic Seed Festival and the 17th Peliti Seed Festival with the International Meeting of Resistance to GMOs which will take place on the 28th, 29th and 30th April in Lorient, Brittany, coordinator Matthieu Le Breton.

10:10 – 11:10 The gardens of Hope in the war areas in Syria. Activists from the «15th Garden». The “15th garden” is a platform with organizations from Europe and the Middle east which supports farmers in war zones.

11:20 – 12:20 Presentations from Cyprus

Six different groups from Cyprus will be present including the president of the Farmers Union, the largest agricultural union of Cyprus.

12:30 –13:30 Seed Festivals worldwide: In Bulgaria, Turkey, and Cyprus there will be Seed Festivals in 2017, in cooperation with Peliti. Among other countries, delegations from these countries will also be present. Τhe possibility of support to future festivals to be held in other countries will also be discussed.

1. Outdoor education, is defined as a combination of outdoor activities, environmental education and personal and social development. It enables students to access the learning process on the spot, in a forest, a park, on a beach, etc. Outdoor Education can also be used as a pedagogical tool for improving learning results. Coordinator: Irini Skoutari
